About The Project

In 2002, the Northwest North Carolina region received an EDA grant to pursue a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).  The purpose of the grant and strategy was to:

"attract new investment, businesses, and jobs to counties that have lost employment to foreign markets as well as other market influences."

The 43-member CEDS Committee hired AngelouEconomics to assist in developing the strategy.  The project encompassed a large region in Northwest North Carolina, inlcuding the following 8 counties:
            Alleghany
            Ashe
            Davie
            Forsyth
            Rockingham
            Stokes
            Surry
            Yadkin
