The Port of Benton and its economic development partners are currently engaged in a strategic planning process to develop a Land-Use and Marketing Plan for the 1,600-acre Research District in north Richland, Washington.

The District employs more than 5,000 people and contains 3.4 million square feet of lab and office space. The Research District is home to more than 90 Richland and Hanford businesses, Pacific Northwest National Lab, other federal agencies, state agencies, labs, and Washington State University Tri-Cities.

The Port of Benton, with funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration, hired AngelouEconomics to develop this plan.  AngelouEconomics will be coordinating the project with several local partners:  The Port of Benton, Pacific Northwest National Labs, WSU–Tri-Cities, the City of Richland, Benton County, and TRIDEC.
