The AE team will visit the region three times over the next five months, meeting with the city’s government, business, education, and community leaders. The team will analyze the information gathered in these meetings along with statistical data that is being collected to create two reports. The first report will be a Situational Analysis, which will include an economic scan of the region as well as a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis. The second report will be an Economic Recovery Strategy, which will include a mission and vision statement for economic development in Hudson, a target business identification, and a business attraction strategy that will help Southeast Iowa not only keep the businesses it already has, but also attract new target businesses The final plan will give Southeast Iowa a roadmap for recruiting and retaining business, create a business-friendly environment, create a marketable image for the region, and create the type of environment that will attract tourists and workers to the area, particularly young professionals.
