In December 2010, the Cameron Industrial Foundation and the Cameron Economic Development Corporation partnered with AngelouEconomics to develop a strategic plan aimed at guiding Cameron’s business and industry attraction efforts and overall economic growth going forward. The analysis included five phases: stakeholder engagement, market analysis, target industry analysis, competitive analysis, and action strategy plan.

The strategic plan included short and intermediate term goals, strategies and action steps as well as an implementation matrix to identify responsible organizations for carrying out the initiatives as well as timelines to assist with strategy implementation.  The recommendations were organized around six specific goal areas. Project Deliverables included:

  • Market Assessment and SWOT Analysis
  • Target Industry Analysis
  • Organizational Assessment
  • Action Strategy and Final Recommendations
  •  Implementation Matrix

Upon completing the Economic Development Strategic Plan for the Cameron Economic Development Corporation and Cameron Industrial Foundation in 2011, AngelouEconomics was again retained for assistance in the city’s EDA application efforts. Cameron’s application for the EDA funding of site preparation and infrastructure for a multiplex tourism event center has been approved for $1,000,000 in federal assistance from the EDA’s Economic Development Assistance grant program.
